Welcome to Mindfulness in Veterinary Medicine.

Throughout school, as veterinarians and others in the field, we’re taught a lot about the body and it’s functions but very little about our minds and how to be in healthy relationship with our thoughts.

Once out in the field, we often find ourselves juggling multiple priorities and stressors on a day to day basis. This can lead to things like compassion fatigue, burnout, and what can feel like insurmountable stress. We can start to question ourselves, our choice to join the profession, and even our ability to continue moving forward.

Our courses relate core mindfulness topics and tools to the common things we face in everyday practice, providing caregivers in the field the tools we need to navigate our days with more skill and less reactivity.

I’m a veterinarian and also a mindfulness practitioner. I’ve been working in the veterinary field since 2003, practicing mindfulness since 2013, and offering mindfulness to others since 2018.

I’ve been in dark places as well, and thankfully found mindfulness at a time I needed it most. Mindfulness has opened up the capacity for me to meet my experiences day to day with more space, kindness, and less judgement. It’s made a HUGE difference in my life, so much so that I realized I wanted to find a way to help others on their own journeys.

I received my certification in Mindful Educator Essentials from Mindful Schools in 2018, and completed a 2 year intensive training program in 2021 from the Greater Good Center at UCBerkeley to become certified as a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, studying under Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield among others.

“I am able to separate my emotions so much better. Incredibly helpful.”
